BASS-II flame, reduced oxygen, ISS 2014

Real NASA footage, measured frame by frame with a documented computer-vision pipeline. Switch between the raw footage, the computed flame outline, and the measurements.

The computer traces bright and blue flame pixels frame by frame. Not yet validated against hand-annotated real frames.

NASA footage. Overlays are this site's computed measurements.

NASA: taken during a BASS-II flame test session with reduced O₂ partial pressure, GMT 213 (1 August 2014).

Several tests ran that day, so the photo is not linked to one table row.

“Image taken on card 8 during BASS-II flame test session with reduced O2 partial pressure. Session conducted on GMT 213. The Burning and Suppression of Solids - II (BASS-II) investigation examines the burning and extinction characteristics of a wide variety of fuel samples in microgravity. The BASS-II experiment will guide strategies for materials flammability screening for use in spacecraft as well as provide valuabl…”
